Following the sudden death of Whitney Houston, Capital FM pays tribute to the singer's musical legacy with a look back at some of her most famous music videos.

From the mid-1980s, Whitney Houston transformed herself into one of the greatest female music stars of all time, and here we take a look at hits including 'I Will Always Love You', 'It's Not Right But It's OK' and 'I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)'.

'Saving All My Love For You'

Whitney's 1985 smash hit was a cover of Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis Jr's original recording in 1978. The song is based around the story of an affair with a married man and the process of the singer saving their emotion and love for that person.

'How Will I Know'

This track featured on the star's debut self titled album and hit the top of the Billboard chart in 1985. The upbeat number features the lyrics "Take me to the clouds above" which became the title of a cover in 2007 by LMC vs U2 which also sampled the Irish band's 'With Or Without You'.

'I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)'

One of Whitney's most well known hits was this 1987 single which was the first release from her second studio album 'Whitney'. The song was written about the tale of someone single trying to find their own special person according to it's co-writer Shannon Rubicam. The track ended up winning the Grammy Award for Best Pop Female Vocal at the 1988 ceremony.

'Where Do Broken Hearts Go?'

The fourth track to be lifted from her sophomore album gave the star her seventh consecutive number one single in the US and made her the only artist to have achieved this feat. The song features the painful lyrics "Where do broken hearts go?Can they find their way home?" The ballad is about a break up and the feelings that ensue following a broken relationship.

'All The Man That I Need'


Whitney Houston released her version of 'All The Man That I Need' and gave the song its biggest chart success to date. It reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US and is still to this day one of fans' favoured songs from her extensive back catalogue.

'I'm Every Woman'

Whitney Houston re-recorded 'I'm Every Woman', originally by Chaka Khan for her movie The Bodyguard. It was released as the film soundtrack's second single in January 1993.

'I Will Always Love You'

Originally written by Dolly Parton, Whitney's version of 'I Will Always Love You' was recorded for her film The Bodyguard. The music video features footage from the film, while the song is widely regarded as her most famous release.

'Queen Of The Night' was co-written by Whitney an was the fifth and final single to be taken from the multiplatinum-selling album 'The Bodyguard: Original Soundtrack Album'.

After several years in the musical wilderness, Whitney Houston firmly revived her music career with 'It's Not Right But It's OK', which was released in 1999 as the third single from her fourth album 'My Love Is Your Love'. The song enjoyed success around the world, including in Whitney's native America.

'One Of Those Days' is taken from Whitney's fifth album, 'Just Whitney', which was released in 2002. The song was the second single taken from the album and features lyrics about getting away from the stress of life.
