The festival, which is set to feature a performance from Jessie J, apologises to music fans.
Festival-goers heading the Isle Of Wight festival have been warned to expect flooding and travel disruption following heavy rain.
Many music fans who have travelled down early to the event at Seaclose Park, Newport have endured queues of up to ten hours just to get on site.
Some festival-goers are reported to have spent last night (21 June) sleeping in their cars, while other motorists were given shelter at Newport Football Club.
The problems are understood to have been triggered by initial flooding in the main festival camp site.
In a statement, organisers said: "We are really sorry for the delays getting into the campsite. Our fields have become wetter and wetter throughout the day.
"We have opened up new fields and laid more trackway. If you are in a car outside waiting to get in we are sending you some food and drink. Please bear with us. We want to look after you and appreciate your patience."
Isle Of Wight organisers are also urging people still on the mainland not to travel by car and instead use the ferry service for foot passengers.
A host of huge stars are scheduled to perform at Isle Of Wight, including Jessie J.
