The Monkees Star Davy Jones Dies Aged 66

The former boy band star has passed away from a heart attack earlier today.

Davy Jones of The Monkees has died today (29th February) aged 66.

The singer suffered a heart attack which was confirmed by a representative to TMZ and in an official statement from the medical examiner's office for Martin County, Florida.

The star was most famous for producing the hits 'Daydream Believer', 'Last Train To Clarksville' and 'I'm A Believer' alongside his boy band members.

As well as his musical ventures, the star was also known for his acting career and featured in the musical of Oliver! as well as Coronation Street.

The Monkees were marketed as the American version of The Beatles after forming in 1966 although Davy was born in Manchester, England.

The group split in 1971 and have reunited many times over the past forty years.

Davy leaves behind his wife, Jessica, and four daughters from previous marriages.
