Organisers of the Greater Manchester Marathon have announced an exciting new addition to the 2013 race, the Relay Team Challenge.
The Relay Team Challenge is aimed at runners of all levels who want to experience the marathon day atmosphere while sharing the distance of the 26.2 mile course. The Relay Team Challenge allows friends, club mates, work colleagues and family members to sign up as a team of four, covering the marathon distance between them.
Teams are made up of four runners, each of which needs to cover one leg of the relay measuring either 10.7km, 7.8km, 11.5km or 12.2km. The chosen team captain needs to go to the website to enter and to register the team’s details. The entry fee for the team is £120 and includes the entry fee for four runners, the chosen team name on everyone’s race number, a race technical t-shirt and a finishers’ medal for all team members plus bus transport to and from the changeover points.
The team relay challenge is open to a maximum of 500 teams so get signing up now!
The newly improved 26.2 mile route includes the race village being located at Manchester United Football Club on the E2 Car Park in front of the stadium. This will mean you will start the race just a short walk away on the A56 White City Roundabout and finish outside the magnificent stadium of Old Trafford. This is a flat, fast route with only 55m of elevation gain, perfect for beginners as well as seasoned runners who want to achieve a new personal best.
Single runners can still enter also, CLICK HERE for more info.
