Yorkshire man charged over fatal Cheshire crash

A lorry driver has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving after 2 men were killed on the M6 in Cheshire.

39-year-old Philip Cawley of Ashton-in-Makerfield, Wigan, and Thomas Southward, who was 69, of Haydock, Merseyside, were changing a tyre on the hard shoulder of the M6 in Sandbach when they were hit by a HGV on 9 September.

A 61-year-old man from Selby in North Yorkshire has been charged. He is due to appear before South Cheshire magistrates on 15 February.
