Woman Sexually Assaulted In Gorton

A woman's been sexually assaulted as she walked in Gorton.

It happened at 2am on Saturday 12 May 2012 as the 21 year-old victim was walking along Tanyard Brow towards Hyde Road when two men ran across the road towards her.

One of the men punched her before she fell to the ground.

It is thought one of the men ran off while the other dragged her towards bushes and sexually assaulted her.

As she was being assaulted, a silver car was driving along the road and turned round, disturbing the offender before he ran off.

The victim suffered a suspected fractured cheekbone.

The man who assaulted her is described as small to medium in height, spoke with a local accent and wore a blue hooded top.

Detective Sergeant Rebecca Duggan from Longsight CID said: "When incidents like this happen, obviously it causes concern within the local community,  However, I would like to reassure the public that we are doing all we can to find those responsible for this crime.

"Firstly, I would like to appeal for anyone who may have been walking in the Tanyard Brow, Hyde Road or Abbey Hey Lane and witnessed the attack or saw the men running off separately to contact us as soon as possible.

"Secondly, I would appeal to the occupants of the silver car to come forward.  Did you see anything suspicious or witness the attack?  If so, please get in touch."
