Greater Manchester Police are investigating a series of violent street robberies on men in Victoria Park.

All have been walking alone when they were attacked by a gang of Asian men.

Police say between July 24th and August 20th there have been 13 robberies of this kind on the Longsight/Rusholme border.

The attackers, described as Asian and under-25, have got away with mobiles, watches and wallets.

Detective Inspector John Harris said: "These young men have been attacked and robbed and, while none of them suffered serious injuries, their will be bearing the mental scars for some time.

"They have all been targeted as they walked home alone, sometimes having been out drinking, and they have had no chance to react when they?ve been accosted by up to four men.

"I want to take the opportunity to remind people walking in this area to be vigilant and be careful to keep their property out of sight.

"I would ask anyone with information to get in touch as soon as possible."

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
