Two Greater Manchester bank workers jailed

Two bank workers from Greater Manchester have been jailed for stealing almost half a million pounds.

Fawad Ahmed and Saliah Ahmed were both found guilty of conspiracy to defraud following an earlier trial at Manchester Crown Court. It's after a number of false accounts were opened at a Royal Bank of Scotland branch in Longsight.

Thirty of these accounts were used to obtain individual loans amounting to £330,000. Money in all but five accounts was withdrawn without repayment and the total loss suffered by the bank was £466,000.

30-year-old Fawad was sentenced to four-and-a-half years in prison and 49-year-old Saliah was sentenced to three-and-a-half years.
