Salford Stabbing: Update

Police have charged two men following an alleged break-in at a house in Salford during which a suspected burglar was stabbed.

27-year-old John Bennell, from Hyde, was knifed in the chest at a house on Ethel Avenue in the Pendlebury area on June 22.

A man who is 23 has been charged with aggravated burglary. He was due to appear before Salford magistrates today (June 30)

A 27-year-old man is also charged with aggravated burglary and is due before magistrates on Friday (July 1)

Meanwhile, a 23-year-old man was previously charged with aggravated burglary and possession of a knife.

A 30-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of burglary has been released without charge.

A 59-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of murder has been bailed until 25 July pending further police inquiries.

A 27-year-old man and 21-year-old woman were released without charge after being arrested.
