A Preston man has been sentenced to 16 years in prison after pleading guilty to the murder of his ex girlfriend at Preston Crown Court.

29 year old David Bullman, from Ashton in Preston, pleaded guilty to murdering Nicola Seed on Tuesday 9th August.

Police were called to a flat on Hazel Grove in Ribbleton at around 7:30pm on Monday 28th February 2011 where they found the body of a woman, later confirmed as Nicola Seed.

A post mortem examination revealed that she died from multiple trauma injuries to her head.

Later that evening Bullman was arrested.

Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector Andrea Barrow from the Force Major Investigation Team said: "We are pleased with the sentence passed down today and the fact that Bullman has entered a guilty plea at least saved Nicola's family from having to go through the ordeal of listening to the evidence which would have been very distressing for them.

Bullman has shown no respect for human life and he callously killed a mother of four young children. He will now have time to reflect on his actions as he faces this lengthy spell in prison.

Our thoughts remain with Nicola's family who understandably are going through a very difficult time. We have specially trained officers supporting Nicola's family and they will continue to do so for as long as they need it."
