Police release e-fit of Manchester attacker

An e-fit has been released by police investigating the stabbing of a woman in Hulme.

The 31 year old woman was walking along Towncliffe Walk on Thursday 13th January 2011 when she was grabbed around the neck from behind. The robber pulled her backwards grabbing her handbag.

She tried to fight him off, but during the struggle he stabbed her in the hand several times. He then rode away on a mountain bike with the woman's bag, chased by a passer by.

The victim was taken to hospital where she was treated for cuts to her hands and arms.

The robber was described as being a mixed race or Eastern European man, in his early 20s and about 5ft 8in tall. He was dressed in dark clothing.

Police are investigating a number of other violent robberies in the area.

Extra patrols are now on the streets at key times.
