Olympic Torch Set To Visit Greater Manchester

The Olympic torch route will pass through Greater Manchester as part of the build up to the 2012 games.

The 70-day, 8,000-mile torch relay will snake across the country, starting on May 19 2012, before reaching the opening ceremony at the Olympic Stadium on July 27.

The torch will arrive in the region on the 31st May as it passes through Bolton. It will then make its way around the country before heading to Manchester on the 23 June.

The aim is that 95% of the UK population would take no longer than an hour to travel to the relay.
