A man's being treated in hospital for serious head injuries after an assault in Manchester City centre.
The attack happened in the early hours of this morning on Oxford Road. The victims' condition is described as critical. An 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and remains in custody for questioning. An investigations' underway into the circumstances behind the attack.
Detective Sergeant Darren Scarr from North Manchester CID said: "There were a number of people around Oxford Street at the time this assault took place and I would ask anyone who witnessed what happened to get in touch with us. You may have gone home from your night out, woken up today and remember seeing something last night. You may not think the information you have is important enough to call the police, but it could be vital to us and help with our investigation. A man has been left in a critical condition following this incident and I am determined to make sure that justice is done for him.
