31 year old Matt Leigh Tyler from Chadderton has been jailed for 3 and a half years after pleading guilty to two offences of sexual activity with a child.

He also has to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life.

Police were called out to the Spindles Shopping Centre in Oldham one afternoon to a report that a 13-year-old boy had been sexually assaulted.

Tyler was already in the toilets when the victim came in. While in a cubicle Tyler entered and sexually assaulted him.

The boy then raised the alarm with security staff at the shopping centre.

Detective Inspector Jamie Daniels, of the Public Protection Division, said:

"The victim was at a very vulnerable time of his life when this happened.

"Tyler took full advantage of this for his own gratification and subjected the boy to degrading sexual attack.

"The boy is now trying to move on from what happened and I hope today?s result helps him come to terms with the incident."
