Homes Evacuated In Salford

Homes in Salford have been evacuated because of a fire at a suspected Cannabis farm.

Early this morning police went to a fire at a house on Baltic Street, they found the lofts at three terraced houses ablaze.

Residents had already escaped and were out on the street.

The fire has been put out, but people won’t be allowed back to their homes yet.

Police and the fire service are trying to find the cause of the fire.

A small cannabis farm was found in one of the terraced houses, this house is almost completely destroyed.

A 28 year old woman was arrested on suspicion of making cannabis and is still in police custody. 



Detective Sergeant Rachel Smith, of Salford CID, said: "This incident once again demonstrates that reckless danger inherent in producing cannabis. 



"This cannabis farm has not only being producing illegal drugs but it has put nearby people in potential danger. 




"People had to leave their homes as a precaution and nearby roads were closed. We expect the residents to return home later this morning.
