Delivery Driver Threatened With Chainsaw In Manchester

A Manchester delivery driver was threatened by a group of would-be robbers who were armed with a chainsaw.

The man was at the Sainsbury store on Heaton Park Road West sometime between 1.15am and 1.40am on 10 April 2011, when three offenders approached him and demanded cigarettes.

The man was threatened with the chainsaw as the group demanded he opened his vehicle.

Following a search of the van the three offenders ran off empty handed towards Middleton Road.

The driver was not injured but left shaken.

Detective Constable Daniel Nowland, said: I am confident someone will know who these men are.

They have threatened an innocent man going about his job with a fearsome weapon and it is important they are caught.'
