Help a London Child's Sport in the City programme, supported by Chelsea FC, has just kicked off.
Sport in the City is giving over 4,000 young Londoners, primarily from less advantaged backgrounds, the chance to take part in free sports taster sessions throughout the summer holidays.
Sessions are taking place in Hammersmith and Fulham, Kensington and Chelsea, Wandsworth, Southwark and Islington and will be delivered by the London Coaching Foundation and members of UK Fitness Network London Region.
Sports include swimming, street dance, handball, netball, basketball and volleyball, boxing squash, capoeira, indoor cycling, tennis, climbing, basketball, mini cricket, karate, cheerleading and gymnastics and of course football.
Not only has Chelsea secured funding for Sport in the City from the Premier League's Creating Chances programme and The FA, Chelsea Foundation coaches will also be helping to deliver many of the football sessions on Adidas Blue Pitches throughout south west London.
Speaking at the launch of Sport in the City Chelsea player Didier Drogba said: It is really important that kids enjoy sport from an early age and I hope this campaign will see thousands of young people continue with sport throughout their lives.
Obviously sport can promote health but it also helps bring people together and can help tackle many of the problems that young people face by giving them positive distractions. I hope the scheme goes from strength to strength and more and more people get involved.
