Budget London
We all have to consider how much we spend when living in London, and as our grannies said, 'keep an eye on the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves'. So taking that advice in hand we have a whole load of things and places you can do either for very little or for free.
Check out these great things to do that are great value for money but don't forget to go back to our 'What on this week section' to find the best budget resurants and bars in town.
'Stich n' Bitch' is a fantastic group of people who believe in keeping knitting alive and well in London. This friendly group of people meet regularly across London in pubs, restaurants, bars and sometimes rather unusual places to teach knitting and have a good natter. It's a great way to meet new people and spend an evening socialising. It's free to join an all you have to pay for is a drink at the venue of choice.
Horniman Museum in Forest Hill, Lewisham has a huge number of free events happening over the summer. This includes film screenings of Hero and Bride and Prejudice, community festivals and courses. It's great for the kids as well as grown ups and has a jam-packed events calendar all year around.
The Roxy Bar and Screen is a great place to go even if you do end up paying. The cinema there does do a free screening once a month. You can check out everything that's going on right here .
From 4th September you can get a full evening of free entertainment, circus acts and performance artists at The Crypt on Euston Road. Illumini Event runs daily until 17th September and is a fantastic way to see great modern art and entertainment in some really creepy and unusual surroundings. We would definitely recommend going here late at night to get the full experience.
Get Fit for Free: Fight Club happens every Wednesday at The Scoop near London Bridge. The Scoop is an open air amphitheatre by the river bank that holds a whole host of free events over the summer but this is our favourite.
In the style of Fight Club the movie you can learn some really cool moves and practice them on the free-standing training bags they have. The classes start at 7.30pm but get there 10 minutes before to register as it can get pretty busy.
