Have you been on social media recently and seeing all the drama between Kim Kardashian and Jeffree Star but actually had no idea what’s been going on? Well, allow us to give you the full, comprehensive run down.
Although, grab a cuppa because it’s a long one.
Kim Kardashian originally excitedly took to Snapchat to give everyone the first look of her new KKW Beauty contour palettes. Naturally, fans were really excited to see the products properly and Kim swatched the product on her arm to show off the colour and pigmentation.
However, not everyone was impressed.
Let's run you through it bit by bit:
The drama begins when Jeffree Star, a renowned beauty vlogger went for Kim on Twitter, saying that her swatches looked ‘rough’.
Umm... Kim what is going on with those new swatches?? Looks like chalk pic.twitter.com/yCTZg2UhZu— Jeffree Star (@JeffreeStar) August 14, 2017
After that, the mayhem began.
u always say how honest u are but there is a difference between being honest and just dragging someone down for no reason..— Kim Kardashian Fan (@KimberlyK411) August 14, 2017

At least wait until you try them— Manuela Tironi (@ManuTironi) August 14, 2017
I'm never a fan of finger swatches so I'll have to try the @kkwbeauty on my face for a final verdict but... doesn't look great so far— Jeffree Star (@JeffreeStar) August 14, 2017
Everyone go check out Kim K's swatches of her new contour powders on her Snapchat and tell me your honest opinions....— Jeffree Star (@JeffreeStar) August 14, 2017
I'll review the@kkwbeauty powder contour kits and see the real tea myself but them swatches were rough y'all!!!— Jeffree Star (@JeffreeStar) August 14, 2017
Fans from both sides attacked both beauty influencers and Jeffree took to Twitter to defend himself, noting that many beauty influencers don’t give an honest review of products for fear of being cut off by the brands.
It makes me so sad how some influencers won't give a bad review because they're afraid the free makeup will stop. Can't relate.— Jeffree Star (@JeffreeStar) August 14, 2017
Some people need to worry about their integrity and start being more honest. The audience isn't dumb...— Jeffree Star (@JeffreeStar) August 14, 2017
Kim then stepped in to diffuse all the tension. She took to Instagram Stories to tell her fans to take it easy on Jeffree.
“Guys, I see that my fans are totally hating on someone like Jeffree Star for being, you know honest about my struggle swatches. But because of his remarks I’m learning from the best, like from Mario, how to swatch properly”, she commented.
She then seemingly addressed Jeffree’s previous racist comments and asked her fans to stop bringing it up.
“I see [my fans] being so petty bringing up things from his past where he, you know, was negative, but he’s also apologised for those things. And I get that it’s a serious deal if you say racial things but I do believe in people changing and people that apologise, I will give them the benefit of the doubt”, she continued.
She then said that she will always “welcome honest, you know, comments about my product and because of it I’m swatching better now. So everyone get off his ass, and lets not be so negative. We’re all in this together, there’s room for all of us. Love you, Jeffree!”.
That’s the air clear, right?
After seeing Kim’s Instagram Stories, Jeffree went back on Twitter and commented, “I f***ing love Kim Kardashian and was giving her s*** earlier because I didn’t like how she switched her powders! Doesn’t mean it’s bad”.
He also commented that he will also give “honest, real reviews once I try a product on my face”.
I always give honest, real reviews once I try a product on my face. I never look at swatches and make a full review come on...— Jeffree Star (@JeffreeStar) August 15, 2017
He then took a personal dig at Kim’s fan and said that they need to “stop making everything a circus and relax”.
I think it's important to let anyone grow and learn from any mistake, so stop making everything a circus and relax.— Jeffree Star (@JeffreeStar) August 15, 2017
Jeffree ended his Twitter rant on a high though:
The fact that someone like @KimKardashian can understand and take real feedback is what a REAL boss bitch does. Love you— Jeffree Star (@JeffreeStar) August 15, 2017
Kim received major backlash for telling fans to move on from Jeffree Star’s previous racism claims.
When Jeffree Star launched a new Androgyny Palette back in March, he featured fellow beauty blogger Nikita Dragun and it really annoyed people. It seemed that the metallic bronzer that was used was significantly darker than Nikita’s natural skin tone, leading fans to slam them both for a form of blackface.
Nikita herself then tweeted back to these claims and wrote, “I’m half Mexican & half South East Asian and normally get extremely tan… let’s not trip over a spray tan” and later asked the question: “So it’s cultural appropriation if it’s your own culture?”.

Jeffree Star also defended his vlogger pal and tweeted “People love reaching. It’s disgusting. Leave Nikita alone and sit down”.
“I really wanted to apologise to you guys and my fans for defending a situation yesterday that I really didn’t know enough about”, she began.
She continued that she feels “a bit naive and I do want to really apologise for me feeling like I had the right to say ‘get over it’ in a situation that involves racism. And I just don’t really feel like I have the right to speak on that and I really, really, really am sorry and I just - from the bottom of my heart”.
