8 August 2012, 16:53

Nicole Scherzinger will line-up with the rest of the judging panel when the programme returns this month.

The new series of The X Factor will begin on 18th August, it has been announced.

The 75-minute launch show will mark the first time viewers have seen Nicole Scherzinger since she joined Gary Barlow, Tulisa Contostavlos and Louis Walsh.

The programme will air at 8pm on ITV 1 and, unlike previous series, will feature hopefuls who are both amateur singers and artists who have a management contract.

The latest series of The X Factor will mark the second series for judges Tulisa and Gary, who is currently mourning the loss of his fourth child.

The confirmation of the start date for the new series comes as Simon Cowell unveiled the trailer for The X Factor USA.

The second series of the American version of the reality talent show features new judge Britney Spears.
