Oscars in numbers
Here are the Oscars in numbers:
:270 - The number of guests who attended the first ceremony at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel in 1929.
:15 - The number of Oscar statuettes handed out at that ceremony.
:3 - The number of times the ceremony has not gone ahead as planned. In 1938 flooding in Los Angeles delayed it by a week. The event was postponed in 1968 following the murder of Dr Martin Luther King Jr and in 1981 after the failed assassination attempt on President Ronald Reagan.
:13.5 - The height in inches of the Oscar statuette.
:2,768 - The number of awards given out before tonight's ceremony.
:5,755 - The number of Academy members who can vote for the Oscars.
:500 - The approximate length in feet of the red carpet at the Kodak Theatre where the ceremony is being held.
:19 - The number of times Bob Hope hosted the event - a record that stillstands.
