Two Bodies Found At House In Nottingham

Two people found dead in West Bridgford last week have been formally identified.

The bodies of Archie McKelvie, aged 64, and his daughter Corrin Barker, aged 31, were discovered in the kitchen at the rear of an address in North Road on Thursday (26 April 2012).

A shotgun was recovered from the scene and a Home Office post-mortem revealed they died of gunshot wounds.

The pair were found by police during enquiries into the identity of a woman who was found dead in the River Trent.

She can now be named as 56-year-old Pauline Barker, Corrin’s mother.

A Home Office post-mortem concluded she drowned.

A murder investigation is underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the deaths but detectives have confirmed they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths.

Enquiries have revealed Archie was last seen at 12.30pm on Tuesday 24 April 2012 at his North Road home. Corrin, from the Edwalton area, was last seen at 3pm on Wednesday 25 April 2012 in West Bridgford.

The final movements of Pauline, who was from the Lady Bay area, are unclear.

Detective Chief Inspector Kate Meynell, Senior Investigating Officer, said: “We know who is involved and we know how they died, we are now trying to piece together exactly when and why this happened.

“We have located Archie’s, Corrin’s and Pauline’s relatives and are keeping them informed and supported at every stage of our investigation.

“They have been helping us with our enquiries into their loved ones’ way of life, but we are now appealing to Nottinghamshire residents for more information about their final movements.

“Do you know Archie, Corrin or Pauline? They appear to have kept themselves to themselves, but we do believe they were known by some members of the West Bridgford community.

“If you know them, or recognise them from their pictures, and think you may have seen them around the time of their deaths, please call us.

“Also, if you heard anything suspicious between 3pm on Wednesday 25 April and 11am on Thursday 26 April in the vicinity of North Road, get in touch.

“The smallest, seemingly insignificant, piece of information to you could very well be a major lead for our investigation.”

Pauline’s body was found in the River Trent, close to Nottingham Racecourse in Colwick, at about 11.40am on 15 April.

She was wearing a black quilted jacket, a blue denim long-sleeved shirt, a purple long-sleeved t-shirt, black velour jogging bottoms and white trainers with light blue stripes on them.
