Torch Relay Route: East Midlands

This Thursday ( 28th June) the Olympic Torch Relay comes to the East Midlands.

For five days Capital will be following the torch around the region, starting off in Nottinghamshire, through to Derbyshire and leaving our region throughs Leicestershire. 

There will be lots of road closures, some delays and changes to bus services for at least an hour each side of when the torch is due in each area. 

People who live along the torch route will have already been notified about closure and access to their street already.

But to make sure you can get out and about check out on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Monday and Tuesday just check out all the links below to find out when and where you will be affected. 

Thursday - Nottinghamshire and Nottingham City

The Torch arrives in Notts around 10.30am in Edwinstone, and travels via, Sherwood Forest, Mansfield, Kelham, Newark-on-Trent, Grantham, Radcliffe on Trent, into Nottingham City centre around 5pm.

Friday - Nottingham City, Derbyshire and Derby City

The Torch leaves Nottingham Castle at 8am and travels up to Derbyshire going through Chesterfield, Matlock, Chatsworth, Bakewell, Ashbourne, and into Derby City area by 6.30pm

Saturday - Derby City 

The torch leaves Derby City centre at 6.40 am and goes out of the East Midlands to Staffordshire and the West Midlands.

Sunday - Out of the area. 

Monday - Leicestershire and Leicester 

The torch gets back in the East Midlands at around 3pm when it arrives in Market Harborough, it then travels through places like Foxton Locks, Oadby and into Leicester City Centre.

Tuesday - Leicester and Loughborough 

The torch is on its way out of the East Midlands, starting at the National Space Centre at 7am it heads over to Quorn,Loughborough, Ashfordby, Melton Mowbray and leaves Leicestershire in Oakham around 2.30pm
