Police are looking for two men after a teenager was attacked with baseball bats in Loughborough.

The 17-year-old was assaulted near the roundabout on Epinal Way and Warwick Way, close to the Warwick Court Flats at about 4am on Sunday.

Officers think the teenager will be in the Leicester Royal Infirmary until the end of the week and want witnesses to get in touch.

Detective Constable Jason Fell is investigating the incident, he said:

"This was a nasty attack which has left the victim with some serious facial injuries; he is likely to remain in hospital for the rest of the week.

"There were a number of passers-by in the area during the early hours of Sunday morning and I would urge anyone who witnessed the incident or saw the two offenders running away from the scene to contact me.  Any calls received will be treated in confidence."
