Third Man Charged Over Leicester Stabbings

Police have charged a third man after two men were stabbing in Leicester.

The 18 and 19-year-old's were stabbed after a fight in Bateman Road on Sunday 2 August and taken to hospital with serious injuries. 

One is still in hospital being treated.

Jamel Tobias Smith, 21, of West Street, Leicester was charged with attempted murder last night and will appear at Leicester Magistrates’ Court later.

A 22-year-old man arrested on suspicion of violent disorder has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Three other men, aged 23, 21 and 18, who were previously arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, have been bailed pending further enquiries.

Winston Lamontagne, 20, of no fixed address, has been charged with attempted murder and violent disorder and appeared at court last week where he was remanded into custody.

Michael Burns, 24, of no fixed address, has been charged with violent disorder and appeared before Leicester Magistrates’ Court earlier this week where he was remanded into custody.
