New Leads In Hayley Pointon Murder

Police are investigating a number of fresh leads in the enquiry into the murder of Hayley Pointon.

It follows calls from members of the public to the enquiry team this month. Hayley, 30, was shot dead while visiting a house in Sunnydale Road, Hinckley, on February 3 last year. So far 21 people have been arrested by investigating officers. Nine of them remain on police bail, but no-one has been charged in connection with her death.

Hayley’s family joined Leicestershire Police in making a renewed appeal for information which could help solve the case on the anniversary of her death.

The appeal has also shown strong support from people from the area where Hayley lived. Detective Chief Inspector Tony Yarwood, from East Midlands Special Operations Unit-Major Crime, is leading the investigation. He said: “I would like to thank those who have come forward and assisted us. I would urge anyone else thinking about doing the same to get in touch – any piece of information could be vital.”

As part of the investigation, police have set up advertising aimed at Facebook users in the Willenhall and Coventry areas. Clicking on these advertisements leads the user to a page dedicated to Hayley and the murder investigation.

Almost 1,000 people have “liked” this page in just over a week. DCI Yarwood said: “The Facebook page has shown there is considerable support among Hayley’s community for bringing those responsible to justice. A lot of people knew her, were friends with her, and miss her.

“Her murder has left two young children without a mother. “I will repeat what I said earlier – this investigation is not going to go away. We are pursuing those lines of investigation vigorously.”
