Man Falls Into Same Durham River As Leicestershire Student

A week after the body of a Leicestershire student was found in a river in Durham - another student's being treated for hypothermia after falling in the water.

Police found the body of Euan Coulthard from Bottesford in the River Wear last Friday.

Police and fire service officers formed a human chain to rescue the man from the River Wear in Durham at 1.45am today.

Durham undergraduates Sope Peters and Luke Pearce also drowned in the Wear following nights out.

Earlier this week, police announced a range of safety measures for Durham city centre, including an independent review of riverside safety.
