The dad of a woman who was found dead in Leicester with her two children has thanked people for their love and support.

The body of 32-year-old Aram Abdul Razaq Aziz was found at Watermead Country Park on the evening of Friday 11th February.

The body of his ex partner Joy Small, 24, was found at a property in Jersey Road, Leicester, on Saturday (12th February) afternoon, along with their son Aubarr Aziz, 3, and daughter Chanarra, 2.

The deaths of the woman and children are being treated as suspicious.

The investigation into the deaths continues and the results of further tests are now awaited following the post mortems. It is not known when these will be received.

At this stage officers are not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths.

Family Statement

Kevin Wathall, Joy’s father, has today issued the following statement:

“At this time I am struggling to come to terms with the events of Saturday February 12 and what has happened. I cannot believe that Joy and the children have been taken away from me for good.

“Joy was a lovely lively person with her whole life ahead of her. Her children were very special and I know she loved and cared for them dearly. Their lives had not even begun and they have died without being given the chance to live.

“I was aware that Joy was having problems in Leicester and I was in the process of assisting her to relocate where it would have given Joy and the children a chance to start a new life.

“I am totally devastated that part of my family should have been wiped out in this way. I have just spent the last weekend alone reflecting on the fact that I should have been celebrating both the birthdays of Joy and Aubarr. I find it very hard to talk at this emotional time, I need space to reflect on what has happened and hope that the media will allow me the time and space that I need.

“Hopefully once they have all been laid to rest and I have had the chance to clear my mind I will speak again in relation to this tragic event. Until that time please allow me to grieve in peace.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank those people that have sent their love and support.”
