£300k worth of cannabis found

Cannabis worth £300,000 has been recovered from an address in Mansfield.

Officers raided a house in Nursery Street at around 3.30pm on Monday (24 January) after receiving information that drugs were being grown at the property.

Nobody was in the house at the time, however police discovered just over 700 cannabis plants, along with specialist growing equipment including high-intensity lighting.

Police have carried out forensic examinations and house-to-house enquiries as part of the ongoing investigation.

Officers would like to speak to two men seen near to the property, who are both described as Chinese or Vietnamese.

PC Colin Morley, beat manager for Mansfield south, said: “This discovery shows how important it is for the public to report any signs of suspicious activity.

“On this occasion we found a sophisticated cannabis grow of hundreds of plants.

“I would urge anyone who knows the people behind this cannabis cultivation, or spots any suspicious activity, to call the police or Crimestoppers so we can deal with it immediately.”

Anyone who has information should contact Nottinghamshire Police on 0300 300 99 99. Alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
