Drinkers are being told they could end up spending the night in a police cell or in a hospital bed if they get obliterated with drink this Christmas.

Derbyshire Police and Crime Commissioner, Alan Charles:

'Police officers have to put people in custody overnight because they're totallt incapable of taking care for themselves.

'They're not safe to themselves or other people.

'Don't get daft, don't get silly.'

The PCC has also been speaking to landlords asking them not to serve people who've cleary had enough to drink already.
