Two people have been arrested in connection with a robbery in which a woman was tied up in her own home in Derbyshire

A 50-year-old man and 47-year-old woman, both from Barnsley, South Yorkshire, have been arrested on suspicion of robbery after June Shaw was tied up and threatened with a crowbar at her home in Shirley Common, Ashbourne on October 17.

Shortly before 8pm she heard her dog barking in the back garden of her home.

She went to investigate and found three men outside. They grabbed Mrs Shaw and dragged her back inside. One man, who was holding a crowbar, spoke with a West Midlands accent. Another man wore distinctive red trainers.

The gang searched the house, taking sentimental family jewellery, before tying Mrs Shaw to a chair and leaving.

Crime-fighting charity Crimestoppers is offering a reward of up to £10,000 for information which leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the robbery.

Detectives have released a CCTV image of a pedestrian they would like to speak to in case he has information which could help the inquiry.

The man was seen walking along the A52 from Ashbourne toward Derby at around 8.30pm on the night of the robbery. He was sighted almost opposite the Shirley and Longford turnoff and may have witnessed something which could help detectives.

He wore a dark coloured baseball-style jacket, which had lighter coloured sleeves.

Anyone with information should call CID on 101, quoting crime reference number 44975/15, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
