Record Breaking Row

Huge congratulations go to Andrew Brown who was not only the first solo rower to cross the finish line of the Talsiker Altlantic Challenge but also broke the world record in the process!

Andrew Brown took part in The Tasliker Atlantic Challenge race hoping to raise £50,000 for Help a Capital Child.

On the 4th December Andrew set off to row on his own across the Atlantic from La Gomera to Barbados, a total distance of 2935 miles. 42 boats signed up, yet only 17 started the race with many more pulling out after being swamped by massive waves during the punishing ordeal and one pulled out owning to seasickness.

Our very own solo star Andrew finished just minutes behind the winning duo, Toby Iles and Nick Moore after contending with salt rash, blisters and cramps during 40 days, nine hours and 44 minutes at sea. A new world record for a solo Atlantic crossing!

Everyone at Help a Capital Child would like to pass our sincere thanks to Andrew and his family for their sheer determination over years of preparation for this epic challenge, and the biggest of congratulations to Andrew for such a tremendous achievement.
