Marriott Lends a Hand
Over 70 employees from Marriott and Renaissance Hotels across London have been volunteering at Help a London Child funded projects, as part of Marriott’s Spirit to Serve Our Communities Day, in which employees from Marriott hotels all over the world volunteer in their local communities.
Eight hotels are took part across London; Maida Vale, Regents Park Grosvenor House, Park Street, County Hall, Kensington and Bexleyheath Marriott, helping out at projects including gardening at an adventure playground, painting and decorating at a women’s refuge, helping with CVs at a job club and running a sports day for disabled children.
The hotels volunteered at Prospex, a community-based charity working to improve the lives of Young People in the Caledonian Road area, women’s refuge Greenwich Women’s Aid, Martin Luther King Young People’s Partnership which runs activities in Islington, My Generation which provides solutions for social challenges affecting young people in North Kensington and Bexley Snap which supports parents and carers of disabled children and young people with special educational needs.
Anne-Marie Pathak Director of Human Resources for London Marriott Hotels Regents Park and Maida Vale said: “It’s fantastic to have the opportunity to go out into the communities that we work in and volunteer for such great causes. It’s amazing to see what a difference we can make just by lending a hand for a day.”
This is London Marriott and Renaissance Hotels second year of volunteering for Help a London Child and is part of an ongoing partnership between the hotel chain and the charity. Since 2007 the hotels have raised over £125,000 for 95.8 Capital FM’s charity, which supports projects for disadvantaged children and young people across the capital.
