About Capital's Christmas Appeal for Help a London Child
Last year the money you raised enabled us to support over 100,000 disadvantaged children in our city – and this year we want to raise even more. Anyone can get involved, and your donation big or small WILL make a difference.
This morning on Capital Breakfast with Johnny and Lisa and our friends JLS helped to launch this year’s appeal in aid of our charity, Help a London Child.
There are so many ways you can get involved this year including taking part in our £95.8 Pound Challenge, recycling your old mobile phones, visiting Winter Wonderland and riding the 95.8 Capital FM Giant Observation Wheel; buying a limited edition JLS Dog Tag or visiting Westfield London's Wish Kingdom and making a donation . Or simply make a donation right here .
And that’s not all. From Monday 14th December we’ll be auctioning off some incredible money-can’t buy prizes – watch this space for further information! There will also be some extra-special guests coming in to help answer the phones – following in the footsteps of celebrities who have supported in the past including Graham Norton, Ricky Gervais, Sean McGuire, Lee Mead, David Gray and James Corden.
The money raised from the appeal will help to improve the lives of disadvantaged children right here in London. The projects we fund include support groups for children and young people with a disability, special needs or an illness, as well as a range of sports, music, drama & leisure activities and youth clubs.
Grants are also awarded to refuge & homelessness projects, holiday play schemes and residential breaks in the UK, cultural activities, supplementary schools, literacy programmes and much more.
Last year we raised £170,000 for disadvantaged children in London and this year – with your help – we’re hoping to beat that.
We'd like to take the opportunity to thank the following companies who helped feed our volunteers this week during the appeal... Burger King & Café Fiori on Leicester Square for breakfasts throughout the week. Tossed, the chain of healthy eating cafes, and the Gourmet Burger Kitchen for providing lunches and dinner. Vitamin Water & Sunraysia for quenching our thirsts, and last but by no means least, Bistro & Bar 190 at The Gore Hotel, Krispy Kreme, Primrose Bakery in Covent Garden, Mars and The Pelham Hotel for the huge number of snacks, biscuits and cakes they sent EVERY day. And of course our volunteers who gave up their time, often with 6am starts!
