Police have arrested two more men over the murder of a 23-year-old in Wolverhampton.

Mircea Gheorghe Cozmiuc, 23, also known to his friends as Gheorghe, was found in the street with multiple stab wounds on Carter Road at around 7am on Saturday 3 September.

Two men aged 36 and 34 were arrested at an address last night in Pennfields and are being questioned.

Officers are particularly keen to hear from anyone who saw a grey Audi A3 speeding away from the scene in the moments after the attack.

Detective Inspector Jim Munro, from the Force CID, said: “I am really keen to hear from anyone who may have seen anything out of the ordinary in Carter Road on Friday night or Saturday morning.

“We believe this assault was targeted and I would like to reassure the community that there is no risk to the wider public.

“Our thoughts are with the family of Mircea at this difficult time and we continue to keep them updated on any developments."

A 33-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of murder on Saturday remains in police custody.

Anyone who was in the area at the time and thinks they may have seen anything which could assist police is asked to call 101.
