Chaos As Water Main Bursts In Wednesbury

Wednesbury Burst Water Main flood

Cars searched and road closed after water main bursts in the Black Country.

It happened at around 10.30am this morning (26th April) on Leabrook Road in the Wednesbury area.

Water levels have reached at least three-metres high in places.

Sheldon Fire Station tweeted to say at least 17 cars had been searched by water rescue teams and a woman had been rescued from a house on the street. 

Old Park Primary School has sent all pupils home.

South Staffs Water say: "Our engineers are currently on site to isolate the damage.

"Some customers may be experiencing low pressure or no water.

"When the water is back on, it may look a different colour to normal. Although the water may not look very nice, it’s not harmful to health and running the cold water tap in your kitchen will help to clear it. Click here to access our discoloured water advice video.
