Birmingham Library to open on schedule

It's been announced that the Library of Birmingham is to open on the 3rd September 2013.

Councillor Mike Whitby, Leader of Birmingham City Council says work on the £188.8 million building is currently running on time and on budget.

The library will be one of the most significant developments and key cultural projects to have been undertaken in the city and is a cornerstone of Birmingham City Council's Big City Plan.

Work is already well advanced to prepare the archives for their transfer to the building whose facilities will include state-of-the-art exhibition gallery space and new online facilities.

Earlier this year a special video virtual tour was created by organisers to show us the interior design of the library currently being built in Centenary Square.
