Two teenagers have been arrested after a man was stabbed to death in Birmingham.
Officers arrested the 18 and 19 year olds at an an address in Handsworth just before 1am this morning (June 5) in connection with the murder of Lukasz Furmanek who was stabbed to death in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Both are being questioned on suspicion of the 24-year-old's murder, and of trying to kill a 31-year-old who is still in hospital.
Detective Chief Inspector Sam Ridding, who is leading the investigation, said: "These are significant arrests, it’s an important step forward in our investigation, but our enquiries are on-going and I’d still like to hear from anyone with information about the stabbings.
“Although it happened in the early hours of the morning someone may have been passing by and saw something that could help us. We also want to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and saw anything out of the ordinary."
Police were called at 3.09am on Sunday morning by a passer-by reporting two men lying unconscious and bleeding heavily in Grove Lane near to Holly Road.
Local officers were immediately dispatched and arrived just a few minutes later performing CPR in a bid to save the critically injured pair.
Ambulance crew praised the CPR efforts of officers who were first on the scene but, despite paramedics performing advanced life support on Mr Furmanek, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
