Police Looking For Capped Attackers

Two men are wanted by police for attacking a Birmingham shop-keeper with a screwdriver when he refused to serve them alcohol.

Both men were wearing distinctive baseball caps, attacked a staff member in Aston’s Express Convenience Store, in Birchfield Road, just before 11pm on 29 May.

One man sported a striped hat with a grey peak, kicked and punched the 39-year-old before his friend, wearing a chequered cap, tried stabbing him with a screwdriver.

Both attackers described as Asian males left on foot along Birchfield Road towards Six Ways.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Phil Langstone, said: "The men were acting suspiciously in the shop and one tried walking behind the counter, staff suspected they were hoping to steal alcohol.

"When asked to leave they responded violently; the shop worker escaped serious injury but it could have been much worse.

"We have clear CCTV images of the offenders and I’m confident someone will recognise them, or the distinctive caps they’re wearing.
