The 'Young' singer talks to Capital about her new single after its first play this morning.
Tulisa Contostavlos' brand new single 'Live It Up' had its first play on Capital FM today (24th July) and The X Factor UK judge says she wanted to put out an urban release to help "define" herself as an artist.
The former N-Dubz singer is set to follow up on her Vodafone Big Top 40 number one 'Young' with this new second single, featuring US rapper Tyga, and admits it will be a tougher sell with UK listeners because of its urban feel.
"Bascially, with this single there is no aim at all to get a number one or storm the charts," Tulisa told Capital FM this week. "This is now me going back to me and trying to define myself as an artist because I knew I wanted a number one hit as my first release, I got that with 'Young, so I went even more urban with this second single.
"I don't expect it to even possibly get top ten it's that urban, but you never know," The X Factor UK judge explained. "The fan base could pull through, the N-Dubletts could pull through, and it is a smash but it's an urban smash and I know that in the UK these days it is a lot tougher with urban music."
Tulisa added: "I'm just giving people a taster of what's to come on the album."
After the first play of 'Live It Up' this morning Tulisa's fans had a hugely positive reaction to the song on Twitter, hailing it as the "perfect" follow-up to her debut 'Young'.
"@CapitalOfficial #CapitalMusicNews I think it's just what I need in this sunshine!!! "We liven' uuuuuuuuuuup" braaaaaaap!!!" Twitter user @GingerliciousR posted, whole user @iJesyNelson simply tweeted: "@CapitalOfficial IT'S PERFECT!!!!! =O."
