The Weeknd feat. Daft Punk - 'Starboy'

The Weeknd destroys his past in the darkest (yet COOLEST) music video we've seen in a LOOOOOONG time.

Remember when The Weeknd dropped 'Starboy'? Everyone completely lost it.

Firstly, because it was such a massive tune. Secondly, because it came in the form of an unlikely collaboration between himself and Daft Punk. And finally, because the cover artwork showed the singer, Abęl Makkonen Tesfaye, had cut his hair.

Many believe that the accompanying video is a very symbolic metaphor of him saying goodbye to the old Weeknd (and those precious, precious locks) and recreating himself as a new artist.

The video begins pretty damn intense, with him tied and a masked man heading towards him. Luckily - it seems - The Weeknd gets out pretty safely, being the total badass that he is, and it turns out that the masked man was, in fact, The Weeknd. Too. We said it was a gorgeous music video; we didn't say it was easy to follow.

The video then shows the artist destroying photos and awards he'd previously won. We mean, we'd have had those awards if you didn't want, man?

But he truly reinvents himself when - in true dramatic fashion - he drives off into the sunset in the nicest car we've ever seen. We can't wait to see what The Weeknd 2.0 will be like.

The Weeknd feat. Daft Punk - 'Starry' Lyrics

[Verse 1]

I'm tryna put you in the worst mood, ah
P1 cleaner than your church shoes, ah
Milli point two just to hurt you, ah
All red Lamb’ just to tease you, ah
None of these toys on lease too, ah
Made your whole year in a week too, yah
Main b**** out your league too, ah
Side b**** out of your league too, ah

[Pre-Chorus]

House so empty, need a centerpiece
20 racks a table cut from ebony
Cut that ivory into skinny pieces
Then she clean it with her face man I love my baby
You talking money, need a hearing aid
You talking bout me, I don't see a shade
Switch up my style, I take any lane
I switch up my cup, I kill any pain

[Chorus]

Look what you've done
I’m a motherf***in' starboy
Look what you've done
I'm a motherf***in' starboy

[Verse 2]

Every day a n**** try to test me, ah
Every day a n**** try to end me, ah
Pull off in that Roadster SV, ah
Pockets overweight, gettin' hefty, ah
Coming for the king, that's a far cry, ah
I come alive in the fall time, I
No competition, I don't really listen
I’m in the blue Mulsanne bumping New Edition

[Pre-Chorus]

House so empty, need a centerpiece
20 racks a table cut from ebony
Cut that ivory into skinny pieces
Then she clean it with her face man I love my baby
You talking money, need a hearing aid
You talking bout me, I don’t see a shade
Switch up my style, I take any lane
I switch up my cup, I kill any pain

[Chorus]

Look what you've done
I’m a motherf***in' starboy
Look what you've done
I'm a motherf***in’ starboy

[Verse 3]

Let a n**** Brad Pitt
Legend of the fall took the year like a bandit
Bought mama a crib and a brand new wagon
Now she hit the grocery shop looking lavish
Star Trek roof in that Wraith of Khan
Girls get loose when they hear this song
100 on the dash get me close to God
We don't pray for love, we just pray for cars

[Pre-Chorus]

House so empty, need a centerpiece
20 racks a table cut from ebony
Cut that ivory into skinny pieces
Then she clean it with her face man I love my baby
You talking money, need a hearing aid
You talking 'bout me, I don't see a shade
Switch up my style, I take any lane
I switch up my cup, I kill any pain

[Chorus]

Look what you've done
I'm a motherf***in' starboy
Look what you've done
I'm a motherf***in' starboy
Look what you've done
I'm a motherf***in' starboy
Look what you've done
I'm a motherf***in' starboy
