2013 has arguably been the year of Mr. 'Blurred Lines'. We take a closer look at the man behind one of the biggest songs on the Vodafone Big Top 40 this year.
Robin Thicke is an American R&B singer-songwriter, born in Los Angeles, California, US. The 'Blurred Lines' star holds dual US and Canadian Citizenship.
The 'Love After War' star was born on September 15th 1977 making him 36 years old.
Thicke gets his Canadian Heritage comes from the star, best known for his role Dr Jason Seaver in the hit ABC show.
Robin Thicke's mum is American singer/actress Gloria Loring. Loring is famous in her own right having released a #1 adult contemporary hit record in the US and appearing on the show Days of Our Lives.
Since starting his solo career the singer has released 6 albums under the name 'Robin Thicke'. His albums are as follows: 'A Beautiful World' (2003), 'The Evoloution of Robin Thicke' (2006), 'Something Else' (2008), 'Sex Therapy' (2009), 'Love After War' (2011) and his most recent album 'Blurred Lines' which is to be released on July 12th 2013. When describing his newest album's concept Thicke said: "The album is called Blurred Lines. I've realized as I've gotten older that we all think we're living either in a black or white world, or on a straight path, but most of us are living right in between those straight lines. And everything you thought you knew, the older you get, you realize, 'Damn, I don't know nothing about this. I better pay attention, I better listen and keep learning.' So I think that, that's what I've been realizing these past few years."
Robin Thicke is married to American actress Paula Patton who has appeared in numerous movies including, Precious, Jumping the Broom and Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol. The pair began dating at the age of 16 after meeting in Los Angeles the city that they were both born and grew up in.

The Vodafone Big Top 40 chart-topper is set to take to the road with Maroon 5 on their UK tour in January 2014 and will tour the US with support act Jessie J in February and March 2014.
The American musician began writing and cowriting songs for musicians like Jordan Knight and Christina Aguilera. More recently he has written hits for artists as diverse as Jennifer Hudson, Usher and Mary J. Blige

The controversial video for 'Blurred Lines' features models Emily Ratajkowski and Elle Evans. The video was criticised by some for potentially glamorising violence against women. Thicke responded to the claims with, “My initial response was I love the clothed version, I don’t think we should put out the naked version. And then I showed it to my wife and all of her girlfriends and they said, ‘You have to put this out, this is so sexy and so cool’.”
He is the first white artist in almost 20 years to top the U.S. R&B charts. The last person to do it was George Michael in 1988.
Robin Thicke's single features American rapper Kendrick Lamar and is titled 'Give It 2 U'. The track is taken from Thicke's latest album 'Blurred Lines'.
The singer joined Kelly Clarkson and John Legend on the show where he searched for singers to duet with him in front of a live studio audience.
Despite being two successful male solo stars, the singer is not too sure being compared to the 'SexyBack' man is too right. he's admitted they share similar influences and even both incoporated an element of nudity into their latest videos. When asked if he thought Mr JT was copying him, he told Capital: "No comment!"
