The 'We Found Love' star will perform an initial North American leg of 24 dates with more to follow soon.

Rihanna has announced a brand new world tour kicking off across North America in early 2013.

Fresh from performing live at the MTV Video Music Awards 2012 (VMAs) in Los Angeles last night (6th September), the 'Where Have You Been' singer has announced her 'Diamonds World Tour' beginning in March 2013 with a show in Buffalo, New York.

"Rihanna's going on tour!" Rihanna's Facebook reads. "Get ready for the DIAMONDS WORLD TOUR hitting a city near you in 2013!"

The 'You Da One' star has announced an initial North American leg of 27 shows, with more dates across the world expected to be announced in the coming months.

Rihanna will perform across cities including Chicago, Los Angeles, Toronto, San Diego and New York on the newly announced jaunt, presumably to promote her as yet unfinished seventh studio album.

The Bajan pop singer has been working in the recording studio for the past several months on the follow up to last year's 'Talk That Talk'.

Last night at the VMAs Rihanna performed her official remix of US single 'Cockiness', before launching into her former Vodafone Big Top 40 number one single 'We Found Love', as well as taking home the gong for Video Of The Year for the latter.
