As PSY debuts his brand new song 'Gentleman', the follow-up to his viral smash 'Gangnam Style', join Capital as we reveal some little known facts about the K-Pop phenomenon.
PSY's real name is Park Jae Sang and he is 35 years old.
'Gangnam Style' was inspired by an area in the South Korean city of Seoul that is likened to Beverly Hills in Los Angeles, where people are often flash with their cash and living in huge mansions (and where PSY was born!).
The South Korean rapper is both a husband and a father. He has twin daughters with wife Yoo Hye-Yeon and the couple wed back in 2006.
PSY is now signed to a recording contract in the US with Scooter Braun's Schoolboy record label. Scooter is best known for managing Canadian superstar Justin Bieber.
PSY has already released six albums including 'PSY from the Psycho World!" back in 2001 and 2010's 'PSY Five'.
Believe it or not, the horse wasn't the first move PSY attempted when coming up for a dance to accompany 'Gangnam Style'. Other animals, including a kangaroo, elephant and a monkey were all tried before ending up with the finished article.
PSY has gone on record saying he is a huge fan of rock music and highlights bands such as Queen and frontman Freddie Mercury as his top all time influence.
PSY was actually a student at Boston University from 1996 where he pursued a course in business administration. He eventually dropped out to pursue his musical dreams and attended Berklee College Of Music.
A long time before 'Gangnam Style' hit the top of the charts worldwide, he unveiled the track 'Bird' in 2011 which introduced him to the South Korean market and went straight to number one.
He has won a total of 19 major awards including his first MTV EMA in 2012. He also has prizes for the 'Gangnam Style' from the American Music Awards and holds a Guinness World Record for being the first video to hit one billion views on YouTube.
