The 'Live While We're Young' singers got the whole O2 Arena crowd on their feet for their explosive set.

Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson emerged onto the stage to some of the biggest cheers of the night so far from the 16,000 strong audience at the Jingle Bell Ball.

The UK boy band kicked off their set with a performance of a song called 'C'mon C'mon', from their newly released album 'Take Me Home', asking the O2 Arena audience to "Scream" as they sang the chorus and headed out to the front of the stage.

"London make some noise! It feels great to be back in the UK!" Harry shouted out to the crowd. "You guys are absolutely amazing. Thank you for having us. Let's have a bit of fun shall we?"

The five-piece then headed straight into their recent Vodafone Big Top 40 number one 'Live While We're Young', the lead single from 'Take Me Home', even performing the Inbetweeners dance routine during the song's middle section.

Harry opted for a dark grey blazer over a white t-shirt for his outfit while Zayn chose a blue denim jacket over white t-shirt alongside black skinny jeans.

Fellow One Direction star Liam performed in a white t-shirt and red tartan shirt and both Niall and Louis kept things simple in navy blue t-shirts.

The five-piece then launched into another new track from their latest record called 'Kiss You', performing right at the front of the stage as a shower of confetti fell from the arena roof.

"I've had a great time on stage, I'm loving all these posters at the front," Liam told the thousands in attendance at day one of the Ball. "I want you guys to help us sing along with this one, this is 'What Makes You Beautiful'."

The boys then performed their massive breakthrough hit, and former Big Top 40 number one, while getting the crowd to sing along to all the words.

One Direction then wrapped their Jingle Bell Ball performance by slowing things down with their latest single 'Little Things', taking a seat in front of their band for the emotional rendition.

One Direction's performance at the Jingle Bell Ball 2012 follows sets from JLS, Little Mix, The Script, Lawson, Rizzle Kicks and Cheryl Cole, while Bruno Mars is set to round off the first day of the event.
