The 'Gotta Be You' stars received the lavish gift as a thank you by Boyce Avenue for a touring support slot earlier this year.

One Direction were given a £20,000 worth of guitars from US group Boyce Avenue recently as a thank you for letting them support the boy band on their UK tour earlier this year.

The 'What Makes You Beautiful' stars are apparently keen to improve their skills on the instruments with Niall holding the strongest talent on the guitar.

"The 1D boys were really grateful but it was a bit of a pointless present as only Niall can play guitar," as source told The Sun Newspaper."Harry, Liam, Zayn and Louis are now desperately trying to learn because it was a really kind gift.

The instruments apparently all featured a special mention to each of the star's in honour of their time on the road together.

"Boyce Avenue got each guitar engraved with a personal message so the boys would remember the tour. That’s definitely made the rest of 1D feel obliged to learn a few chords now," added the source.

The band wrapped their debut US arena tour last night (1st July) with a date in Florida and will head back to the UK for a new arena tour in 2013.

The 'One Thing' singers are also among the acts set to perform at the iTunes Festival 2012 alongside the likes of Usher, Olly Murs and JLS.
