One Direction On Avoiding Typical Boy Band Formula: "We Look Stupid Dancing!"

The 'Kiss You' band say they have always just tried to be themselves when performing and out in public.

One Direction have explained why they avoided dancing when first starting the band, and admit that they "look stupid" when trying to pull some shapes on stage.

The 'Little Things' five-piece say staying away from choreographed routines has helped them avoid the standard boy-band formula and given them a unique standpoint.

"We didn't want to just follow the boy-band formula," Zayn Malik explained to Glamour magazine this month. "We didn't want to do any dancing, we just wanted to be five dudes in a band.

"We just kind of came out and said, 'We can't dance, we're a bit lazy, we're just normal lads," fellow band member Liam Payne explained. "We look stupid dancing, that's what I think."

The 'Live While We're Young' singers also admitted that they can never be "squeaky-clean" and say they always believe it's best to be yourself at all times.

"The thing is, when you're playing a part, eventually it goes wrong," Harry Styles added. "Eventually someone's going to see that that's not who you are.

"So it's best to be yourself from the get-go."
