The 'Super Bass' rapper says growing up without much money has made her appreciate wealth more.

Nicki Minaj has revealed that she doesn't enjoy spending money on herself but loves to buy her friends and family nice things with her pop career earnings.

The 'Starships' singer says that because she grew up without a lot of money she hasn't become a "big spender" despite selling millions of records around the world.

"I'm still not, like, a big spender," Nicki said during an appearance on Ellen yesterday (10th May). "I love buying other people stuff.

"Because when I buy myself stuff I feel like, 'I don't really need this, why am I getting it?'," the 'Beez In The Trap rapper explained to host Ellen DeGeneres. "I just bought my best friends Range Rovers and they're really excited about that!"

After being interviewed on the US chat show Nicki also gave a live performance of her current singles 'Right By My Side', which features rapper Chris Brown on guest vocals, and 'Starships'.

Nicki's appearance on Ellen follows her announcement at the start of May that she will begin her 'Pink Friday' world tour this summer with 14 dates across North America.
