The 'Beez In The Trap' rapper is said to be finalising a deal to join the show's panel.

Nicki Minaj is reported close to signing a deal to join the judging panel for the new season of American Idol.

The 'Starships' singer as previously been linked to a role on the popular talent show, however new reports claim Nicki is "definitely doing it" and will join Mariah Carey and an unconfirmed third judge for the brand new series of the long-running FOX series.

"I'm not sure the deal is completely done yet, but yes, she is definitely doing it," an unnamed source told Us Weekly this week. "A few more slight things to sign off on but it is happening."

Both FOX and representatives for Nicki Minaj have refused to comment on the rumours so far, however an announcement of the full American Idol line-up is expected sometime in the next several weeks.

US singer Nick Jonas and The Neptunes' Pharrell WIlliams have both also been linked to a panel spot on the series, amid rumours long-running judge Randy Jackson is being moved over to a "mentor" role on the show.

"The rumours are true… I am being considered to be a judge on American Idol, and it would be a dream come true if it happens. #nickonidol," Nick tweeted earlier this month.
