The Devon band confirm that their new song will be used ahead of the medal ceremonies in London.

Muse has revealed that their new single 'Survival' will be used as the official song for the 2012 London Olympic Games.

Singer Matt Bellamy said the song was written with the forthcoming sporting event, which begins next month, "in mind".

"It's about total conviction and pure determination to win," Muse said in a statement posted on their website.

The group also revealed that the song would be used when athletes enter the stadium and in the lead up to the medal ceremony.

'Survival' was chosen as the official song for the games by the London Olympic committee. It will be available to download on iTunes later tonight (27th June).

The Olympics will kick off on 27th July with the opening ceremony at the Olympic Stadium in Stratford, East London.
